The Energy Transition:
from Cost to Investment Opportunity
30 March, 29 June and 9 November 2017, 13:00 – 16:30h
The Oil & Gas Reinvented Community Young Professionals working group is reconvening at the Big Data event on 30 March 2017 – and do we have a challenge for you! Over the course of two sessions, we challenge you to think of new, innovative ways to stimulate the energy transition.
THE CHALLENGE
Before you start the challenge, Jan Willem Velthuijsen (PwC) and Hans van Cleef (ABN AMRO) will share their views on the main theme from a macroeconomic and financial business perspective, respectively, followed by a Q&A. During your first session, you and your team will develop a project for the challenge. Once you have set out your game plan, you will have until the second session on 29 June to submit your Energy Transition Investment Opportunity. At this time, you will get the chance to perfect your elevator pitch to convince a three-headed-jury why your project should win!
Some investment opportunities you may consider:
Your team
To ensure diversity in the project teams, you will be randomly divided into groups. Your team, which will be a mixture of young professionals from ABN AMRO, PwC, Shell, Siemens, TNO, and other young professionals, will be supported by a team lead from one of these organizations.
If you are up for the challenge and ready to win a fund for your project, make sure to sign up for the upcoming Big Data event on 30 March through this link.*
* The Big Data event (30 March 2017) is only accessible to members. Membership can be acquired by signing up through the following link. Select the working group Young Professionals to receive the latest on developments within this group.

Some investment opportunities you may consider:
- Large scale energy efficiency/ economy projects that do not qualify under current return requirements;
- Large scale intermittent (weather dependent) energy project with zero marginal costs;
- Large scale energy storage where capacity distribution over time is required;
- Large scale infrastructure/distribution system in a liberalized-privatized market environment; and
- Challenging Icon projects, e.g. the TenneT Doggersbank artificial energy island in a JV set up.
